What to Do Before Renting a Party Bus

April 4th, 2014

So you’ve got a big event going on, and now you need to figure out how to get everyone from point A to point B, hopefully without boring them all to death.

So why not choose a party bus for your transportation? Of course, you’ll need to be sure that you’re choosing the right party bus company for you before you make the big decision. That’s why we’ve listed a couple things you’d want to consider when looking for the best quality service for the best price.

The Lowest Cost Provider is Often the Lowest Quality Provider

Many people think to themselves, “All limo companies are the same, right? So I just go with the cheapest person, and I’ll have a five star party bus show up on time and take me where I need to go!” That’s where you would be wrong. Oftentimes, the cheapest person to go with isn’t the greatest company. Many of the ‘lowest price guarantee’ companies aren’t obligated by any kind of contract to arrive on time, or at all, and often will bring older model cars to greet you. Their buses break down more often, or they don’t have proper insurance if an accident happens.

Make Sure You Are Hiring a Legitimate Company with the Proper Permits

If you can’t go and personally see the vehicles at a yard or lot (as most of the smaller, cheaper companies with only 5 vehicles to their name will keep the cars at employees houses), then why would you trust that vehicle to be cleaned, polished, and well stocked when picking you up? Always make sure that the company you go with has contracts that ensure that you’re protected, and that the company will fulfill their obligations to you. Many times companies will ensure you that they’re insured, but can they produce the proper evidence of non-expired and up-to-code permits?

Hire an Industry Leader that is Backed By Accreditations

One of the most important things to find out about a company is if their associated with an industry, such as the National Limousine Association, or the Better Business Bureau, to ensure that your limo service provider does their due diligence. Adding onto that, you cannot rent a party bus for 1 hour, and most companies will have 3-4 hour minimums, with higher exceptions during the spring. For party busses, the expected price is to be $100-$200 per hour, and usually has minimum requirements of 6-8 hours during the spring season (due to proms and weddings). There are also fewer discounts to be offered during the spring season events due to the fact that the demand for party buses exceeds the supply, meaning that the shortage causes an increase in prices and hourly minimums.

Though you do pay for the party bus time even while you are at the event, the vehicle will stay with you to ensure that you can be picked up as soon as you are ready. Due to lack of a larger number of vehicles, many companies will try and fit other reservations in during your waiting time. This will result in the fact that they cannot come back whenever you please to pick you up and that if they get held over longer on the run, they will be late picking you up at the end of the night.

All in all, you may be saving yourself $25 for going with a cheaper party bus service, but will it be worth it when you make it to prom 2 hours late in a smelly, 1990’s bus with a rude, surly driver? If you wouldn’t pay for the cheapest surgeon for an operation, than don’t pay for the cheapest party bus for a fun night out – or else the night of your life might turn into the nightmare of your life.
